 Common Application Useful Tips
  1. If your school has the option to apply using their own application, we recommend you use that, unless you are applying to other schools who require the Common Application.
  2. Create an account at www.commonapp.org and record your Common Application ID. It is important to maintain this information for use at a later time.
  3. You must identify, then invite, your counselor in order for us to complete your secondary school report.
    1. First, use the “Education” section to identify your counselor.
    2. Next, invite your counselor through the individual colleges you are applying to (please use the long @rochester.k12.mi.us e-mail to invite your counselor).......within the “My Colleges” section, use the “Recommenders and FERPA” tab to invite your counselor which will generate an email and allow us to begin your Secondary School Report.
  4. Request a transcript to be sent to the Common App (through your Parchment account) after you have completed step 2.
  5. If required, invite teacher(s) to complete a letter of recommendation and evaluation. You will do this by selecting the “My Colleges” tab on the homepage. You will need to do this for each school that you are applying to (this will allow you to choose a different teacher for different schools, if you would like). Do this step before you submit your Common Application.
